My Tennis Serve

For a few dayz I was battling with my serve. I normally had first serve %age of around 50, but lately had gone down drastically. I decided to go back to basics. So where would a techie go to learn tennis serve, no not tennis academy...it was youtube & some other videos that helped me recognize my problem.
I was doing everything right except toss. In my quest to put in more top spin esp in my second serve i was tossing the ball over or back of my head due to which i was goofing up badly. So here I put all the basic steps.
( I am not a tennis pro but a lover of the sport, so please add comments & videos for improvements)

1. Position yourself: Right foot at around 45 degrees to the base line, comfortably puts me in a nice position .
2. Focus: Focus focus focus, i do it by bouncing the ball few times...forget about last point, last serve, people watching, cute girl somewhere nearby :) ...forget everything just you and the tennis ball.
3. Pickup a spot: Everytime before serving I look and pick up a spot where i intend the ball should go.
4. TOSS: This is so very important. You need to toss the ball at a convinient position for you to hit. As for me it just above the base line little away from my body. This below video also very clearly shows the starting position of hand before toss and a good toss by Nadal.(dartfish)


5. Reach for the ball: As the ball is going up, start bending the knees and when its at it highest reach for it and hit it as hard as you can.

Viewing WPP Tracing in Drivers.

Few days back i had to view trace messages in my code, sadly no one knew how to use it.
The code already contained wpp tracing which is mainly used for tracing messages in windows kernel drivers.
Here's how to view them very briefly !!!

1. -D RUN_WPP compile with it, basically code would be written in #ifdefs of this macro.
Using trace api's is not what i did, see link for it.
2. tracepdb -p abc.pdb -f c:\trace
This creates a .tmf file in c:\trace directory.
3. Create file with following content
c:\trace>cat abc.ctl
10oabe15e-c3ea-4fx24-x9x91-efb5bcdxxef
This long number is the control guid.
4. traceview
this is a gui application, I will ask for .ctl file & .tmf file, give it
and it will start tracing & showing in real time.
5. traceview will also create log file with .etl extension
To view it, convert to text:
tracefmt.exe -o logfile.txt -f logfile.etl

All command line utilities, tracepdb.exe, traceview, tracefmt.exe are part of WDDK (Windows Driver Development Kit), see tools directory.

Yea this is also called ETW (Event Tracing for Windows)

Strive Ahead

The rear view mirror of a vehicle is to be looked at certain times, but you should not be driving looking at it. The past is rear view mirror of Life.

Starter.

Rite, thinking about writing my blogs for a few days now!!
Being an asprising techie it will basically contain technical stuff, software coding is my passion.
I will be posting whatever I learnt which was interesting .

Being born-again it will contain some cool spiritual stuff.

Interest also include politics, sports (more tennis less cricket, something rare for indian desi)

I also easily get bored of doing things, they say that blogging is not boring, lets C.
